Report text

Governor Bahlol, PRT, and the Emergency Response Committee conducted foot patrol to Darkhel to assess ongoing concerns related to 27 Jun flooding that redirected the flow of the Panjshir River. Also met with Haji Kara-beg (Former General, Former MoI deputy minister, Former IRC Director). It was apparent that Haji Kara-beg still holds personal influence/power in the area and that continued river erosion near his home had captured the attention of the provincial governor. Many requests were voiced to the PRT to include re-routing the river and helping with significant repairs to two micro-hydros. PRT re-educated all Panjshiris in attendance that they needed to work all of these requirements through their ministries in Kabul. A follow-on meeting with additional donors and line directors will occur to prioritize the Darkhel requirements compared to other provincial needs.
