Report text

The groundbreaking ceremony went very well. Participation was good at about 100 people attending. The Sub Gov, NSP administrator, Dir of Public Health, and overall village elder spoke at the ceremony. The Sub Gov spoke quite a bit about the fact that the community needs to stop growing drugs or hell move the clinic somewhere else. One subordinate village elder stood up and said they would destroy the drug crops in the next two days. All participants seemed very enthusiastic about the project. We noticed many of the individuals that we had met in previous missions into Kohi Safi. The village elder of Bar Mandikowl was there, as well as another leader from Bar Mandikowl. Leaders from Nilay were there to include the contractors working on the Nilay School. At the luncheon one of the village elders of Mandikowl asked us to make sure that the contractors that we hired were locals, because then the community could make sure that person would do a decent job. That same elder asked us to make sure we talked to him in the future next time we were there, this mission was great in that I was able to meet more of the village leadership and have POC that I can talk to without the govt present.
