Report text
At 0440z, the 70th Engineers Sapper PLT along with ANA and ETTs moved to the location with the source to exploit the site. Upon arriving, the EOD elements found a pressure plate wired to an Italian mine (with low metal composition) at WB 2527 1671. Additionally, EOD found a 107mm rocket with timer located on the side of the road next to the IED. The rocket had speaker wire running to the pressure plate but further analysis by Paladin is needed to determine if the rocket was part of the same circuit as the pressure plate and mine. It is likely that the rocket was emplaced to target first responders to the mine strike but it is still unclear if the timer was wired in a manner to detonate the rocket a period of time after the mine exploded. The components were brought back to FOB Bermel IOT be exploited by TF Paladin. NFTR. Event closed at 1237z.
