On 1 January PTAT and Kapisa PMT-P went to Mahmood Raqi ANP station/Provincial Coordination Center (PCC) to hold a two day map reading course. There were eight students, all of which work in the PCC. Topics covered included map orientation, terrain features and grid coordinates. PTAT and PMT-P also met with the CoP and only female ANP officer in the province. The female officer discussed her duties with a female member of the PTAT team. She explained her job as helping the ANP resolve domestic disturbances, residential searches and any issues involving female Afghans. She related there are issues of family violence and issues of young women fleeing their homes due to family arrangements, etc. Worse, there are cases where females have burned themselves for the aforementioned reasons. These issues continue to be a problem and are active in Kapisa province. The officer related these issues predominately originate from lower poverty areas. PMT-P offered assistance by suggesting a female mentor be assigned to the province if possible. The officer stated she would appreciate any assistance offered in regard to female issues. In addition, she requested a HA drop strictly for women/children. PMT-P agreed it would greatly benefit the populace and will actively engage in coordination for a drop. After the traing the team returned to BAF.
