At 0655z, Chosen Company reported that COP Bella was taking small arms fire from enemy located at XD 751 864. The ANA, in their OP, identified the enemy and returned fire with small arms and RPGs. Bella''s 120s and Blessing''s 155''s fired in support to suppress and disrupt the enemy. By 0707z, contact had ceased - the indirect and direct fires broke up the enemy attack. The ANA lost visual contact with the enemy and could not confirm any enemy casualties. Event re-opened at 1119z when 20-30x enemy again engaged Bella with small arms and RPG fire. Chosen returned fire with crew-served weapons, and called for indirect fire support. 120''s fired from Bella itself, and 155''s from Blessing also fired to suppress the enemy at XD 76350 87600. At 1140z, Chosen reported 1x friendly casualty; an ASG with a gunshot wound to the chest. 1207z: CAS (F15s c/s Dude 07) Came on station in support of the ongoing contact, and worked with the Rock JTAC to prioritize targets. Chosen identified enemy fighting positions at XD 75700 88100 and XD 7530 8905, and requested CAS to strike both with 1x GBU-31 each. 1255z: Weapons away - impacts observed safe and on-target by Chosen 26. (from AC MISREP 1ea GBU31 confirmed successful, enemy exfiltration route destroyed and POO site destroyed) Fighting positions reported destroyed and enemy contact ceased. Highly restrictive terrain prevented Chosen from conducting BDA - enemy broke contact with no confirmed casualties. All contact was directed away from populated areas, and there was no collateral damage. Event closed. TF ROCK Comments: There has been a recent spike in activity in the Waygul, with 2xTICs a day for the last three days. The reporting stream for the last two months has been to conduct a larger-scale attack on Bella Outpost prior to the snowfall, and this morning there was a faint snow covering on the mountain caps of Waygul, indicating the winter has begun and the enemy has little time before the larger amounts of snow make attacking unfavorable. The current Enemy TTP has been to conduct harassing attacks from the south for two straight days, then the attack on Bella itself which mostly came from the north and east involving rockets, RPG, PKM, and SAF. Ataza is the likely area where a portion of the enemy fighters are located along with Muladish in the south and in the north, bandehs scattered on the mountain as well as Amoshez (42SXD751928). The enemy may be conditioning us to be expecting the attack from the east, then conduct a feint from the east and the main attack will occur from the west. As CF are massing firepower on the east the ACM can move relatively undetected on the west and engage the FOB or OP at close range, in an attempt to over-run the FOB. Reporting indicates that the guys that shot the rockets was Abdul Malik of Aranas. He was former ASG SL during 10th MTN deployment. The interpreter says he recognized his voice on the ICOM yesterday stating that he couldn''t conduct the attack until today. ISAF Tracking #11-006.
