01 OCT: Conducted QA/QCs of six projects in Parwan Province. The first project visited was the Qaleh Yuzbashi Windmill and Well. When we arrived at the project, there were no workers at the site, and very little progress had been made since our last visit. We noted that some of the concrete work for the windmill had been done, one of the legs of the windmill had been installed. Other than that, there was no progress. We continued on to the Qualeh Golay Primary School where good progress is being made. We found no issues with the site, as construction was right on schedule and of good quality. The third project was the Qalander Khail road. All of the road is complete, but they are still working on some of the culverts. Some parts of the road are a little sloppy but follow the Scope of Work. After that we went to Monarah road which looks very good, one of the best in the country that weve seen. The contractor is very professional and stands by his work, which is also remarkable. Then we went to Charikar for the Flood control 1 and 2. They are pretty far ahead and say that they will be done with both projects in one week. The only thing is that the water has no where to go but on the road, so we will have to re look the SOW and determine if the contractor has to make culverts that will lead to the river. As of right now, all the water will just flow onto the road, the contractor said something about digging a hole for the water to run into, but we cant see how that will solve the problem. We will re look the SOW and get back with the contractor. After that we RP''d back to BAF.
