FF conducted an offensive patrol ISO Op SHEEJAH PALANG. FF found a VOIED (PP). FF cordoned off the area. EOD is on site to conduct BIP. UPDATE: 0714D The IED has been marked and avoided. Event Closed 0719D As part of a fighting patrol FINDER 10A requested BRIMSTONE C/S's in order to clear through potential Vulnerable Points (VP) along the route to their objectives. BRIMSTONE 45 carried out VP clearances and as a result 1 x VOIED(PP) was discovered. The area where the VOIED(PP) was discovered was a track T junction, with agricultural fields to the EAST and WEST and compounds to the SOUTH. The area was an obvious VP. Following EOD action it was revealed that there was no power source. It is the WIS INV opinion that the device had been pre laid and that INS would attach the power source when ISAF C/S was seen approaching the area, however in this instance the patrol used the cover of darkness to reach the VP. IED related items discovered on scene: Pressure plate - 1 x Pressure plate of a saw blade type construction, wrapped in clear plastic and black PAT. The PP dimensions were approx 700mm x 100mm x 100mm. (recovered) Wire - Various lengths of Iranian twin flex wire. Main charge - 1 x 10 litre palm oil container, filled with approx 10Kgs of probable ANAL HME. Detonator - 1 x Electrical detonator (destroyed in situ) Detonating cord - 1 x short length of orange commercial cord detonating (destroyed in situ)
