At 010614DEC09 (Z) TF Stryker reports TF Punisher (2/562 ENG) found an IED within TF Legion's AO IVO 41RPQ8300098900 (Maiwand District, Kandahar Province). The Stryker element was conducting route clearance operations in the area when the unit found a VOIED consisting of a metal crush plate IED and 2 x yellow jugs of HME. After conducting a BiP of the device Stryker element conducted secondary sweeps of the area and found a secondary IED approximately 25m away from the first IED also consisting of 2 x yellow jugs of HME and crush plate initiator.
